Founded in 1996, Verio was affiliated to NTT in 2000, one of world's largest telecommunications companies. For its good performance, Verio was honored as a leading company in hosting industry, with headquarter located in Utah, USA.

Consider shared web hosting, Verio mainly provides three types of plans, namely Basic, Enhanced and Premium. Prices of those three plans are $9.95/mo, $19.95/mo and $29.95/mo, which is a little bit expensive comparing to most of its peers. But Verio is ok with 30 days money back guarantee, which would relieve some pressure of newcomers.

When people purchase any products at Verio, the company is only available with credit card payment. Other payment methods, such as PayPal and checks, are not accepted.

Verio used to be a highly-valued web hosting provider according to users' feedbacks, but they really cannot live up to customers' expectations in the recent years.

Verio Speed Review 3.00 of 5

Verio uses Apache web server, the world's most widely-used web server, which is essential for fast speed. Also, the company has premier data centers facilities which are under 24x7 monitoring and operational support.

In order to keep connectivity bugs staying at the lowest level, Verio has onsite network engineers. Besides, the company also has some onsite system administrators to keep servers running safely and normally. By and large, the speed of the company's web hosting service stays at the average level in the industry.

Verio Reliability Review 1.50 of 5

Thanks to its mother company NTT, Verio can support its operations through NTT's highly reliable and scalable Global IP Network, which is important for site reliability. The company promises 99.9% uptime, but in fact, it provides 99.79% uptime overall.

According to statistics, in the last two year, the company had 4 serious outages detected by us. And longest duration time was 131 minutes. One of their users claims that the web hosting servers are down at least 5% of the time. Another user complains that the company's service goes down frequently. One even reports that his website was once being down for 4 days.

Verio really needs to deal with this problem to gain customers' trust and live up to NTT's good reputation before it's too late.

Verio Feature Review 2.50 of 5

The company provides unlimited disk space for all plans and 6TB monthly transfer for Basic plan users. In general, 6TB monthly transfer would be large to meet the majority of Basic plan users.

In addition to that, the company supports SSH access, Perl, Ruby, Python and OpenJDK, but it is a pity that Verio doesn't provide any free domain. For Basic plan users, Verio offers only one MySQL database and 100 email accounts, which is quite limited.

What's more, Verio provides free web design tools EasySite and rich free online marketing tools as well as free open-source applications. And automatic site backups are also available and performed nightly and weekly.

Verio Technical Support Review 1.50 of 5

If customers need any technical assistance or consultation, they may refer to the company's support team. Verio has a support team which is on duty for 24x7. In addition, the company officially says most technical issues can be handled within 24 hours.

You may get in touch with them though phone or email. However, live chat is not available, so it may cost you certain money or time if you need any help. For additional information, you may find other channels available, such as the tutorials, video library and their online knowledge base.

There are surprisingly many harsh complaints from their users. Some claim that Verio have outsourced support service and their support staffs are not unknowledgeable and unhelpful. Sometimes you really need good ears to figure out some information from an Indian accent technical representative.
