MochaHost was launched in 2002 with the intention to provide integrated and affordable online solutions to small and medium-sized business. Over the years, it hasn’t established itself as a trusted brand. Instead, it has become a notorious name in the industry.

We have collected a multitude of customer feedbacks and professional reviews on MochaHost and the findings are overall negative. There are countless reasons why people should stay away from MochaHost - unauthorized billing, tricky pricing scheme, super slow speed, lots of downtime, awful technical support - to name but a few.

We do not want to see our readers fall victims to MochaHost. That’s why we work out the comprehensive MochaHost review.

The company offers 3 shared plans named as Soho, Business and Mocha, each starting from $3.95/mo, $4.90/mo and $10.35/mo regularly. To attract more customers and maintain longer relations, MochaHost offers a 50% lifetime discount for all plans. Besides, it also guarantees 30 Days Money Back. However, no fees are refundable 180 days after purchase.

Given such friendly prices, many people are lured into this trap. When they go insane with the poor services and decide to cancel their accounts, they get nothing back. The promised full refund or the unused fees are used to cover domain registration, ID protection, SSL support, cPanel, etc. It does not need to take a sharp eye to see how tricky the pricing is.

MochaHost Speed Review 1.50 of 5

MochaHost offers Lightning Fast Guarantee to Business and Mocha users and claims to be the only hosting company that offers such a site performance guarantee in a shared hosting environment. This is far from true. In fact, many reputable companies like InMotion Hosting or A2Hosting also promise to deliver fast speed and honor their promises by actual deeds.

According to our observation, MochaHost is so slow that people won’t even recommend this host to their enemies. Many MochaHost customers say that everything goes fine in the beginning, then their accounts get suspended because of "excessive server usage" ( although they only host some simple Joomla sites), at last things become so unbearable that they have to leave MochaHost or upgrade to VPS plans.

MochaHost Reliability Review 2.50 of 5

It’s known that no matter how hard a host tries, downtime is just unavoidable sometimes. Hence, hosting providers are responsible for minimizing the chances and consequences instead of talking big. Apparently, MochaHost does not know this because the company guarantees 100% uptime to all users and promises credits for any downtime. However, scheduled maintenance or malicious attacks are not counted as downtime.

According to the customer voice found on Google, lots of downtimes occured, and some lasted for several days. When these customers requested credits for downtime, they were told that the guarantee did not apply to their situations.

MochaHost Feature Review 2.00 of 5

Targeted at different groups, the three plans include vastly different features. The Soho plan, which is claimed to be an ideal choice for small office and personal blog, comes with unlimited bandwidth, disk space, email accounts, FTP accounts, 50 MySQL databases, flexible cPanel, PHP support, shared SSL Certificate and $100 Google AdWords. That’s all there is. Note that the plan can host only one website.

More advanced features such as Site Builder, Private SSL support, Ruby on Rails , Cron Jobs, etc. are included in Business and Mocha plans only. Other benefits such as free setup or free domain are also exclusive to annual Business and Mocha plans. Short-term (monthly or 3 months) users have to pay $5 for setup and $10.45/yr for a domain name. These fees are non-refundable.

MochaHost Technical Support Review 2.00 of 5

MochaHost invests little on technical support or follow-up services. To begin with, the support channel is imperfect. The company offers customer service only through live chat and ticket system while professional hosts like BlueHost or HostGator regard phone as an indispensable support channel.

Besides, the quality of Mochahost technical support is also frequently complained. Many customers say that sometimes when they ask for help, the technical staff seem to have no clue or give misleading solutions. When they report problems to the abuse department, the latter one just ignores the issues completely.
