Starting the hosting business in 2012, MilesWeb is an India-based web hosting provider that offers services on the global scale. Besides the two data center locations in India, this web host also provides 5 other locations around the world which include Chicago and Brooklyn in the US, and London, UK.

MilesWeb is committed to providing the best web hosting services for both beginners and the tech savvies. According to the official site, the services should come with competitive prices, superior customer services, easy upgrades, and great reliability. However, is the company able to achieve all these goals?

Holding the doubt, we have reviewed MilesWeb carefully. As a result, we found that the company does well in the ease of use and reliability, but the speed and support are far away from being great. As multiple hosting types are available, including shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS and cloud, this review will focus on the shared hosting plans.

MilesWeb Speed Review 1.00 of 5

MilesWeb offers a total of 7 server locations and allows customers to make a choice among them to get the best speed possible. All the data centers feature quality hardware, on-site staff, and multiple network carriers. The network is claimed to be enterprise-level and built upon the highest standards. Besides, MilesWeb equips its servers with Solid State Drives for faster processing of files.

However, such information cannot convince us that MilesWeb provides fast speed because our monitoring tells a totally different story. MilesWeb is actually very slow for users in the US since the server responses alone take over 2000ms. The page loading time could be 10 seconds or even longer. Therefore, if most of your target visitors are from North America, MilesWeb should never be the right choice for you.

MilesWeb Reliability Review 4.00 of 5

When judged from the service uptime, MilesWeb is quite good. The company promises 99.95% uptime for shared hosting, and our monitoring has proven its excellence in this aspect. The average service uptime is over 99.9%. Websites should be kept online all the time.

Such good results should attribute to the company's cooperation with the leading hardware and software providers like CloudLinux and Supermicro. Also, the on-site security, UPS power systems and expert monitoring are also helpful. Below is a piece of our monitoring results.

MilesWeb Technical Support Review 3.50 of 5

For technical support, MilesWeb provides an Indian phone number (not toll-free), live chat, support email address, and a helpdesk to allow contacts. Live chats and phone calls are promised to be replied instantly, and the first reply of tickets is offered within 30 minutes. These promises can be fulfilled at most times, according to our trials.

However, there is still a problem. MilesWeb technical support is all based in India, and the company hasn't built a support center in the US. Due to this fact, we've received complaints about the communications with the support staff. Some users say that some employees in the support team don't speak easy-to-understand English.

MilesWeb Shared Hosting Price Review 3.00 of 5

For shared hosting, MilesWeb provides 3 different plans. The prices of these plans seem affordable, but you should pay attention to the limitations in the server resources and some programming features.

Price

Named Economy, Value and Unlimited, the plans are priced at $1.67/mo, $3.5/mo and $6/mo for the 3-year contract. For Value and Unlimited, the monthly contract is available which charges $6.5/mo and $9/mo respectively.

To be honest, these prices are quite affordable. However, you will find that the cheapest Economy plan is not worth the money after viewing the features. Besides, you may also want to know the additional fees that might occur to your account.
  • Daily automated backups: $1.65/mo.
  • Google Analytics integration: $15.
  • Google Webmaster Tools verification: $15.

Refund guarantee

All of MilesWeb shared hosting plans include a refund guarantee. If you submit an account cancellation request within the first 30 days of your order, you are entitled to a full refund. And if the cancellation occurs after 30 days, a refund of the unused months will be issued. It is considerate for MilesWeb to offer such a refund guarantee.

MilesWeb Shared Hosting Feature Review 3.00 of 5

First of all, we'd like to present the main differences between the plans.
  • Economy: 1 website, 1 GB storage, 3 MySQL databases, 10 email accounts, and no SpamExperts. The shortage of disk storage makes this plan almost valueless because you will soon need to upgrade.
  • Value: 1 website, unlimited storage, MySQL databases, email accounts, and SpamExperts.
  • Unlimited: unlimited websites and all other things in Value.
In addition to the features above, all the plans include:
  • Unlimited bandwidth, FTP accounts, subdomains, and parked domains.
  • A website builder.
  • The latest cPanel with Softaculous integrated.
  • Multiple PHP versions, Perl 5.10, Python 2.6.6, and Ruby on Rails.
These features can meet the demands of most people. However, you should also pay attention to the absence of some advanced features that are commonly available, such as SSH, Git, PostgreSQL database and Python 3.2.

Alternatives to MilesWeb 4.50 of 5

MilesWeb is an affordable choice for shared hosting, but it is not a good option due to the extremely slow speed. With such speed, you will never make a success online because no one, including the search engines, would like a slow website. Fast speed is always one of the important factors for choosing a good shared hosting provider.

If you have decided to put MilesWeb aside, you can take a look at some other leading providers including the following ones and compare them carefully before making a purchase.
