HostNine Speed Review 3.50 of 5

As mentioned before, HostNine houses its servers in multiple data centers so that users can choose a server location near their audience. This is a guarantee for SEO and fast data traveling speed. Besides, the company also cooperates with multiple Tier-1 bandwidth providers for the optimum data route and employs SSD caching technology to improve page load times.

According to our survey, most customers are quite satisfied with the page loading speed. About 70% customers report to see a steady growth of visitors to their sites. We’ve monitored its speed with Pingdom, the server response rate is around 400ms, which is better than the average.

HostNine Reliability Review 3.00 of 5

HostNine promises to deliver 99.9% uptime and downtime will be compensated by credits. To ensure high reliability, it has equipped the data centers with on-site security, redundant routers, switches and power systems, climate control and fire suppression systems. It also uses on-site backup hardware and components to cover the risks of hardware failure.

These measures are supposed to deliver satisfying results and should be credited. However, there are also areas for improvement. For example, it only offers weekly off-site backup while other hosts like InMotion hosting offers daily backup for free. Another problem is that there seems to be too much maintenance (like rebuilding RAID) which causes the servers to go slow or even go down sometimes. Maybe the company should purchase or rent more reliable servers.

HostNine Feature Review 4.00 of 5

The 3 plans have many features in common. All of them include unlimited disk space, bandwidth, sub-domains, FTP accounts and POP/IMAP email accounts as basic resources. They also offer similar hosting tools such as cPanel, Softaculous Script Installer, RvSiteBuilder, Cron Jobs and SSH access. Other key features like PHP, MySQL, Perl, Ruby on Rails, CGI-bin are all available.

As for the differences, only the Enterprise plan offers a free domain for the first year, 1 free dedicated IP and free SSL certificate support. What’s more, Personal users are allowed with 1 domain and 1 server location while Business and Enterprise users can host a maximum of 100 domains and choose to be hosted in US, UK, Netherlands or Singapore.

HostNine Technical Support Review 3.00 of 5

HostNine offers 3 official support channels - live chat, ticket system and toll-free phone. The first 2 channels are available all the time while the third is only accessible from 9am to 5:30pm on workdays. This is definitely something that should be worked upon.

Besides official support, the company has also built the knowledgebase and forums as self-support channels. The knowledgebase is quite informative with hundreds of logically-developed tutorials on carefully selected topics. The community forum is a good place for registered customers to exchanges ideas about web design, web hosting or anything else.
