Hivelocity was founded in 2002 in Tampa, Florida in a basement. Hivelocity has 50 employees and serves customers from over 130 countries after 13-year development. Targeting at large companies, the company only provides dedicated servers, cloud hosting solutions and collocation.

People who work in Hivelocity dream big. As they state on their official website, the company runs its business with a goal to provide the ultimate user experience through exceptional customer service, flawless reliability and extraordinary innovation.

The review is mainly about the company' dedicated hosting and is going to evaluate it in the perspectives of price, feature, speed, reliability and technical support.

For dedicated hosting plans, the company has divided them into three series according to different server processor. Each series include several plans. For better display of its packages and price, we have made a table below.

PricePackagesStarting Price
Single Processor6$99/mo
Dual Processor2$279/mo
Quad processor2$1,199/mo

Among those plans, the price varies from $99/mo to $1,399/mo, which is much more expensive comparing other providers such as HostMonster which only charges $74.99/mo for its primary plan. And there is no discount available, so you really need to pay a large sum of money for the company's dedicated hosting service.

As for payment methods, the company accepts MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, PayPal and checks. If you want to check out via other payments like money order, please make sure that your methods are payable in US dollars. But it is a pity that the company doesn't give money back guarantee. With such a large sum of money spending on Hivelocity, you are locked in totally. If you are dissatisfied with their service just days after purchase, you cannot get refund at all.

Hivelocity Speed Review 2.00 of 5

The company has built their own datacenter in Tampa which is under well protection so as to keep it running normally. And Hivelocity uses Dell and SuperMicro servers which are supposed to provide fast speed for users. Also, supported by multiple top-class transmit providers like Level 3, NTT and Global Crossing, customers don't have to worry about network issues theoretically.

In fact, the company performs very poorly in speed. The servers are fast, but there are many issues about their network, which leads to slow server response from time to time. According to feedbacks, many users are very upset about the slow speed.

Hivelocity Reliability Review 2.50 of 5

The company promises 99.99% uptime for dedicated hosting. But in fact, they are not that excellent as they claim. In 2014, the company had 2 outages with the longest duration lasting for 148 minutes while they state on their website that they had 100% network uptime in 2014.

Even worse, according to customer reviews, sometimes servers crash down, which is quite disappointing Sometimes, they even cannot give a reasonable explanation for some issues. All in all, the server is not reliable enough to catch up with the company's promise.

Hivelocity Feature Review 2.50 of 5

Among 10 packages, the first plan under Single Processor is the most affordable plan with the price at $99/mo. And we select this plan for feature display.

For this plan, the company supports quad cores, 8 GB memory, 500 GB default drive and 10 TB bandwidth. Besides, customers can use 3 IPv4 and 2 IPv6. As for operating system, Both Linux and Windows system are available, but Windows system is charged an extra $20/mo at least.

In addition, no control panel is included in your packages. If you want to buy a cPanel, you need to pay extra fee at $25/mo. Other services such as backup, setup and Softaculous are supported.

Hivelocity Technical Support Review 2.00 of 5

The company provides 24x7 technical support via phone, ticket and live chat as they state. But they also make it clear that they are only available in certain period of time. For example, the billing department is only at work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday. So, the company would better, at first, explain to their customers about their definition of 24x7 available help.

As for their live chat, it is terrible. We have tried their live chat, and it took an hour to have a representative at our service, which is unbelievably slow. Also, we have received some complaints that the company cancels their accounts without any notice or warning.
